Have you ever felt like life was happening to you instead of for you? I know that feeling deeply. When my life was falling apart around me, I resisted all the signs… from heartbreak and loss to the whisper that my successful business career and my marriage were no longer for me to this craving to unlock my creativity and make things with my hands, even though this felt like a silly thing to prioritise, with so much uncertainty and pain around me.
I felt untethered and directionless. Half in, half out. Going through the motions.
I was on autopilot - living someone else’s life, blaming the external factors outside of my control. Believing I had to do more, be more, have more, strive more, and try harder to “fix” all the things wrong with my life until I realised that maybe I get to choose… that maybe these things are happening because they are no longer for me. And maybe I get to choose how I want to feel and what I want my life to look like moving forward.
This is the power of intention.
I realised that maybe this inner desire for more peace, love, meaning and purpose was possible and patiently waiting for me to claim it.
Or maybe to intentionally create it…
Not necessarily intention one day, result the next. BOOM magic, but slowly, surely overtime with an unwavering commitment to always choosing peace, love and making decisions with intention, in line with my core values, so that my life might start to take on real depth and meaning and so that I may find my calling and highest purpose.
Sure, at the time when my life was unravelling, it was a subconscious realisation, a soul’s truth. Now, on reflection and through my years of healing, training and moving towards my soul’s north star, I know that this is the power of intention taking seed within my busy brain as I allowed my higher wisdom to lead the way.
Why Heart-Centred Intentions Matter
Heart-centred intentions are more than goals—they are declarations of how you want to feel and who you want to be. Unlike goals, which are outcome-focused, intentions align your heart, mind, and actions with your soul’s desires. This alignment bridges the Law of Intention and the Law of Action: Intention without action is a dream, while action without intention lacks direction. Together, they create magic.
Uncovering Your Core Values: The Foundation of Intentional Living
Your core values act as a compass for your heart-centred intentions. When you identify what truly matters to you—such as freedom, creativity, connection, or authenticity—you create intentions aligned with your soul. Your values may shift and change slightly overtime as you get clearer on who you really are and what you really want, as you get into deeper and deeper conversations with your soul.
Getting clear on your values will help you to shape intentions that feel true to you.
How to Discover Your Core Values:
Journal on Important Moments: Write about times when you felt most fulfilled. What values were present?
List What Matters: Make a list of qualities that make life meaningful to you.
Choose and Define: Narrow down your top seven values and describe what they mean to you.
The Energy of Intention: Law of Vibration & Attraction
Every thought and emotion carries an energetic frequency. When you set a heart-centred intention aligned with your values, you shift your vibration and activate the Law of Vibration & Attraction. Like attracts like, and your thoughts, words, and actions magnetize experiences that resonate with your frequency.
Your thoughts and feelings create a magnetic field. Positive, aligned energy attracts opportunities, while self-doubt and fear create blocks.
The key is consistency—align your thoughts, words, and actions with your desires daily. Practice gratitude, visualize with emotion, and celebrate every small synchronicity that aligns with your intention. The universe responds not just to your requests but to your embodied belief that what you seek is already on its way.
How to Set Powerful Heart-Centred Intentions
Here are some spiritual and creative tools to help you set and embody your intentions:
Create a Sacred Ritual: Start by grounding yourself—light a candle, meditate, or journal. Let your heart lead the conversation.
Journal with Feeling: Go beyond what you want—focus on how you want to feel. For example: “I intend to feel peaceful and expansive as I share my gifts with the world.”
Use Embodied Affirmations: Speak your intentions aloud with conviction. Example: “I am worthy of a life filled with joy, creativity, and abundance.”
Craft a Vision Board: Gather images and words that evoke your desired feelings. Let it be a visual anchor for your intentions.
Practice Embodiment: Act as if your intentions are already reality. How would you show up if you were already the person living your dream?
Trust the Timing: Let go of the how and trust divine timing. Stay open to unexpected blessings.
Anchoring Intentions Through Action
Intentions come alive when paired with aligned action. For me, every brushstroke on a canvas is more than art—it is a declaration of joy and healing and empowerment. Similarly, my podcast ‘SOUL LED CREATIVE WOMEN’ was born from the intention to empower women by sharing stories of resilience and transformation.
Intention as a Healing Practice
Intentions are essential on the healing journey because they shift your focus from pain to possibility. They remind you that you are a creator, not a victim. When my life was in pieces, I didn’t force outcomes—I devoted myself to living with intention. Each day, I chose alignment, self-expression, and courage, and over time, my life transformed.
Final Invitation
If you feel lost or unsure, return to your heart. Set one simple intention that feels like a promise to your soul. Take one small, aligned action. You don’t need to know the whole path—just trust the next step.
The universe listens to the language of your heart. What will you declare today?
Take care,
Sam
